The Last Month has been a whirlwind for me. We made the trip to Springfield to see the National TT and the National Mile. If you haven’t ever been to a national you need to find a way to get there. Some of the most intense racing I’ve ever seen. Last weekend was the opening night at IMI. As I was driving home from IMI I got to thinking about the last couple weeks. Dirt Tracking is such a great sport! When I first started flat tracking it was a family sport for us. I would race, my brother Ken would race and even my dad would sometimes race ( my poor mom!). As you looked around the pits in those days you would have found the Piper Family, the Larkin Family, the Crest Family, and the list goes on and on. Fast Forward to 2009 and you’ll find the Goodwin Family, the Morris’, the McRobert’s, the Larkin’s, Belisle’s, Kennedy’s, and the Whittaker families all out racing. This list can also go on and on. I think you see the pattern here, Flat Track racing is about family. I think everyone needs to sit back and take a look at how lucky we are to be spending time with our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, and of course grandmas and grandpas. Flat Track racing is about more than going fast and turning left.
